In order to safely and effectively treat more than 600 federal and state waste codes, EQ has pioneered stringent approval and waste handling procedures that surpass regulatory requirements. ISO certification demonstrates our commitment to providing quality environmental services that exceed customer expectations, protect the environment, ensure safety and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
EQ operates the two largest treatment and stabilization facilities in North America. In conjunction with our hazardous waste landfill, EQ has the largest waste treatment and disposal capacity in the industry. Our facilities also have the most state-of-the-art air handling systems.
EQ's CERCLA approved waste treatment plants process a variety of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes. Our Facilities can accept waste in a range of consistencies and shipping containers; from bulk liquids and solids to drums and bags. We can also accept all waste transportation options, including rail.
Treatment Process
Wastes containing organic contaminates are treated via chemical oxidation, a process that breaks down the organic material. EQ has the only facility in the United States with a Regenerative Thermal Oxidation (RTO) air management system, required to manage high VOC wastes regulated by RCRA.
Hazardous debris streams are managed using a treatment technology called microencapsulation. This process reduces the leachability of hazardous constituents so the material can be safely disposed of in a RCRA subtitle C landfill.
To treat metal bearing wastes, EQ uses a pozzolonic stabilization process that decharacterizes the waste so that it can be disposed of in a non-hazardous subtitle D landfill.
Typical Waste Streams include the following:
- Electric arc furnace dust
- Plating waste
- Filter cake
- Oily sludge
- Remediation waste
